Level 4 Award Advanced Skin Science
The CIBTAC Level 4 Award in Advanced Skin Science is a knowledge-based qualification. It is aimed at equipping the learner with knowledge that underpins safe and effective, nonsurgical, clinical aesthetic practice within beauty salons, skin clinics and medispa.
This is a modular Level 4 qualification suitable for all skin health professionals who wish to extend your knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the skin considerably further than standard training and in unprecedented depth. This qualification is listed in the Ofqual register of qualifications. The CIBTAC Level 4 Award in Advanced Skin Science provides knowledge that underpins all non-surgical aesthetic practices in line with sector national occupational standards and government recommendations.

The qualification has been identified by employers, professional bodies, government bodies and insurers, as recommended for working as a clinical aesthetic practitioner, however, there are some CPD courses that can enhance the knowledge learnt to ensure that the qualified practitioner remains current and at the forefront of the industry. The CIBTAC Level 4 Award in Advanced Skin Science provides learners with advanced knowledge of skin science, the physiology of ageing and the skin healing mechanism all of which underpin the provision of safe and effective, non-surgical clinical aesthetic procedures, in line with the government recommendations.
The aim of the CIBTAC Level 4 Award in Advanced Skin Science is to provide learners with a challenging qualification that will enable them to gain the advanced knowledge required for work as a nonsurgical aesthetic practitioner by developing their advanced knowledge that underpins professional, ethical, safe and effective non-surgical, clinical aesthetic practice, enhancing the safety of the public in line with UK government recommendations.
Course Format
This course is made up of one unit of study:

Module 1 - The Integumentary System
Module 2 - The Skin - Epidermis & Dermis
Module 3 - Functions of Skin
Module 4 - Skin Cells & Structure
Module 5 - Wound Healing
Module 6 - Physiology of Skin Ageing
Course Delivery - Audio-visual e-learning
Course Resources - Digital portfolio and e-learning portal
Course Assessment - Online multiple choice questions, written assessment workbook, portfolio compilation and final theory examination at the Cosmo Pro Academy.
Duration - Up to 2 years. 65 Guided Learning Hours (GLH). Minimum of 88 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) which includes private study time and assessment completion.

Course entry requirements – one of the following:
NVQ Beauty Therapy Level 3 or equivalent
Minimum of 5 GCCEs or equivalent
Open access on assessment of suitability for learning at Level 4
PLUS - Fluency in English
Certification - The OFQUAL accredited CIBTAC Level 4 Award in Advance Skin Science - graded at pass, merit or distinction.
